UNILAG MARATHON PRESS RELEASE #RUNFORYOURLIFE

It is with utmost enthusiasm and hope, that the Breezy Brainz Global Entertainment in conjunction with the University of Lagos Students’ Union (ULSU) wishes to intimate the general public about a sickle cell initiative tagged, #RUNFORYOURLIFE aka UNILAG MARATHON

#RUNFORYOURLIFE is a campaign against the dreadful anaemia called SICKLE CELL. The idea was born out of the sheer passion of the organisers for rendering humanitarian services as well as promoting grassroots sports to the members of the public. A recent survey carried out by Wold Health Organisation (W.H.O.) in Nigeria revealed that over 40 million Nigerians are carriers of the anaemia, 1 million people are living with this anaemia, and over 100,000 babies die as a result of this bane yearly.

That is why the BBGE in collaboration with ULSU have decided to break the silence and take the words to the neighbourhood. It is not an act of God, neither is it an act of witchcraft, nor is it an act of the gods………do not be disillusioned, it is an act of man. Prevention is a better option than cure; sickle cell anaemia can be prevented.

The attack on sickle cell anaemia has been jointly launched by BBGE and ULSU, as we organise the maiden edition of “UNILAG MARATHON”, tagged #RUNFORYOURLIFE. Its intent is to take the campaign to the nooks and crannies of the UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS environment.

Nevertheless, it is a fight than cannot be won by these two bodies alone. We hereby call on individuals, organisations/ corporate bodies, and government agencies to support this campaign, as we move towards sending this bane off the edge of a cliff.
