is a phenomenon that has existed since people started wearing clothing. Fashion
is not really all about the latest trends. It is about looking good and being
comfortable in whatever you are wearing. As such, there are different styles
for everyone depending on each one’s taste. It is about expressing yourself and
creating a signature that people can identify you with.
The definition of fashion varies from one person to another. For
some people, it refers to the latest trends in clothing’s, accessories,
footwear and for others it may be latest food, lifestyle, etc. People who want
to be up to date with the latest fashion follow various fashion magazines and
media. Yes, fashion is very important in our life as it gives a good impression
if we are dressed according to the latest style.
As such I have taken my time to identify these fashion trends for university students. Follow these trends and you will be among the hottest and most respected students on campus. Remember you do not have to break your bank account to look good.
1. RIPPED JEANS: This is the new
rave of the moment. These are jeans with rips, often on the knees. They were
popular in the late 1980s and have made a huge comeback in recent times. They
come in different colours, patterns and styles. They can be paired with almost
anything. Switch up your style and get creative today!
- VINTAGE SHIRTS: Clothing from the 1920s to 20 years
before the present day is considered vintage. Vintage outfits are classic.
They are always in vogue and still remain trendy and stylish. This is a
must have for university students. Vintage shirts can be styled with
jeans, sneakers, heels, tote bags, etc. It can come in patterns, prints or
floral designs. Be creative in rocking vintage.
- CROP TOP: This has taken over campus fashion for ladies entirely. It is completely chic and stylish. It comes in different styles and colours. It is a current fashion essential. It can be rocked with denim trousers, skirts, plus sized or jogger pants.
5. SUNGLASSES: The importance of sunglasses cannot be under rated. Besides protecting our eyes from the harmful effects of ultra violet rays of the sun, it can also make us look stylish and classy. Ensure you check out your face shape and know what frame fits your face.
6. BLAZER: This is a jacket not
usually part of a suit but considered appropriate for formal wear. It
resembles a suit jacket but is cut more formally. They can be worn with a
wide variety of clothes, ranging from a dress shirt to an open-necked polo
shirt.
7. JOGGER PANTS: These are a
casual variety of soft trousers intended for comfort or athletic purposes,
although they are now worn in many different situations. They never go out
of style. They are basically dressed-up sweatpants. They go with pretty
much everything that’s already in your closet. These days you can find
joggers offered in nearly any material – denim, khaki, etc. Pair your jogger pants with crop tops,
sweaters, white button down shirts, sneakers, jackets, etc. Remember being
creative is key.

DASHIKI: Dashiki is born from the word “yar’ ciki” which means shirt.
But it was popularised by the Yorubas who called it "danshiki". It
is usually worn with a cap and a pair of pants.
The Dashiki comes in different colours, styles and shapes and they come
as dresses, shirts, shorts, jump suits, play suits and much more. They are
unisex hence can be worn by both male and females, can be paired with almost
anything, and are quite affordable.
Dashiki Prints are colourful, fun, vibrant,
very trendy and suit everybody regardless of your origin and background. It can
be rocked with jeans, leggings, leather pants, etc.
- TOTE (CROSS BODY BAGS):
These are essential for campus students. You wouldn’t want to be carrying
books and important documents in your hands or in transparent files. These
bags come in handy as they have different compartments. They also add a
bit of style to your look. They can make your outfit look interesting and
busy.
