THE ROYAL ACCENT (UNVEILING OF THE QUEENS)

The official unveiling and press briefing for the Royal Accent held on the 29th of September 2015 at Pizzaville, Emerald Hostel. The host for the event was Larry Foreman. Sponsors of the event present included Infinix, Zaron, Aquilla, Star Walker, Cremium Cream, Woodin, Power house, Wat’s on offer.com amongst others.
                                       

In attendance was the CEO of Sulcata Ent Mr Oraka Nvy, the COO of Sulcata Ent Timi Abayomi, Deputy DSA in person of Dr Adebayo, ULSU Social Secretary Michael Opadoja (Modella), Byno, Godwyn, family members of the winner and runners up, the Sulcata chaperone team and Mr Afolabi Yusuf.


 Media houses and bloggers/publicists in attendance included – Raypower, Wap tv, Unilag Birdie, Unilag Gist. Kiss n tell, Tayo Lawal Blog, Kampus Flowz, Galaxy Tv, LTV, Nigerian tribune, Daily Trust Newspaper, Gold Myne Tv, Simple Magazine and of course Estelle shuga.


The CEO of Sulcata Ent gave a brief overview of how “Miss Unilag’’ started. He explained that it all started with the dream to impact positivity into the youths.  Sulcata as referred by him is not just about beauty pageants. It is about youth development. He also gave a brief history of all the Miss Unilag pageants held in the last five years.
                              
Musical performances were done by Byno and Godwyn.
                              

 It was finally time for the unveiling of the queens and the revealing of their individual Pet Projects. The Miss Unilag, Onyinye Emeasoba talked about values and impact to people in our immediate society. She will be leading the campaign tagged ‘Ignition’, an empowerment initiative through skill acquisition seminar and platforms

The first runner up Mmesoma Obidiebube, talked about reaching out to the community also. She will be leading the campaign tagged ‘Unilag Cares’, a campaign that aims to cater for some of the needs of the environs of Unilag. She intends starting the campaign in Akoka primary school and the Modupe Cole Memorial Orphanage.

 The second runner up Jemimah Ugiagbe spoke with passion about putting an end to rape issues in Unilag. She will be leading the campaign tagged ‘Break The Silence’, a campaign against rape on campus. She intends to liase with the Guidance & Counselling Unit of Unilag.
Questions were thrown at the queens and the organisers from the press and guests in attendance and they answered appropriately.

 Finally it was time for the presentation of gifts to the queens. Mr Oraka explained that the main gift is the ‘Miss Unilag Title’ in itself and not just the car. The Deputy DSA also used the opportunity to explain to the public that it was the organizers of the event that provided the grand prize of a car and not the University management; but that the office of the DSA always support any student activity on campus.

The 2nd runner up got an air circulator from Star Walker, an Infinix Hot Note phone and a one year free hair care contract from Mr Nice 1 salon. The 1st runner up also got the same package as the 2nd runner up but with a bigger air circulator. The Winner got a Bluetooth speaker, a star walker air circulator, Zaron make up kit, Infinix Zero 2, free spa sessions and she also got a customized ice cream flavor named after her ‘Miss Onyinye’ at Creamium Cream.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the brand new Hyundai Accent Car; hence the whole ‘Royal Accent’ teasers that were going around prior to the event.
